Amera was founded in 1984 by a female dentist. Most dentists accept dry, rough hands and chipped, splitting nails as one of the hazards of the continual hand washing the profession requires. However, Amera's foudner researched and investigated many products until she found or developed the products and techniques that made her hands healthy and smooth again. Other people became interested in using the exceptional products, and Amera was born.
In 1992, Amera was purchased by the Ivy Family Corporation of Seattle, Washington. Marlene Ivy and her son, Jerry L. Ivy, are the Corporation members primarily responsible for the day-to-day operation of Amera Cosmetics, Inc.
